My facination of face lotions, potions and makeup began when I was very young. My grandmother was an Avon lady, and I acquired all sorts of sticky peel-off goopy masks, lipsticks, weird smelling creams and lotions - you name it - which I would readily apply to both myself and my friends. A bit later, I became obsessed with, oddly enough, extractions. So, making the decision to become an esthetician was easy and natural for me.
More recently, I've been studying nutrition and the role that food plays on how we age and the health of our skin. I have learned that what we put in our bodies directly affects how we look. It really does. It's not just words to me anymore. I now understand the science and chemistry and what-have-you behind it. Likewise, what we put on our skin does the same thing. It gets absorbed and can enter the blood stream, the same way that food does. As an esthetician, this knowledge is a little troubling - have you ever read the ingredients of your average skin care product? Yikes!
When I found the Dr. Alkaitis Holistic Organic Skin Food line, I was delighted. These products are different from any other. Only living ingredients are used. They are so pure, you can actually eat them! Of course, they are never tested on animals. When you omit the toxins, you don't have to test on animals. Perfection! Integrating these products into my treatments has alleviated my worries about the potential harm manufactured chemicals and artificial ingredients may cause my clients. Now, I don't have to ask myself "what if?".
The marriage of health, nutrition and skin care - that is holistic, organic facials. I believe in what I’m doing, and I love the process. It's hard to describe how good I feel when I give someone a facial -- peaceful, relaxed, serene. And I've been told by clients that they feel the same way too.
